Book Illustration
My professor gave us 5 different books to choose from to illustrate a cover for, and since I always wanted to be a pirate, I figured illustrating for a book that had sailors as main characters was close enough.
I wanted to use a silhouette of a whale to represent Moby Dick, and to create an interesting way to include something inside. After being inspired by Japanese prints to represent the waves, I thought about putting a man with a harpoon inside the whale, which as it happens, look pretty awesome.
